I absolutely love cooking with taro. I typically enjoy using it in stir fries and soups. This taro stir fry recipe is super quick and easy. Did you know that taro is an awesome versatile vegetable filled with fibre, antioxidants and polyphenols? If you haven’t tried it yet, this is a great introduction recipe that will leave you wanting more.
Prep Time: 5 minutes | Cook Time: 10 minutes | Total Time: 15 minutes | Servings: 4
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil or canola oil
- 4 cloves garlic (you can add more or less, depending how much you love garlic)
- 3 cup taro, julienned in match sticks
- 3 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp white sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup green onions, chopped
Cooking Instructions
- Place a non-stick skillet on high then add oil and allow it to heat up.
- Add in garlic, taro, oyster sauce and white sugar.
- Mix well and let soften for 5 minutes.
- Add in 1 cup of water to help thoroughly cook the taro.
- After another 5 minutes, stir and remove from heat.
- Serve on a bed of jasmine rice and garnish with green onions.
Note(s): You can modify the serving size you’d like to make by doubling or halving this recipe. This recipe yields 4 servings.
Stove heating levels may vary. To ensure you don’t overcook your taro, keep on eye on it. If it’s looking too soft or mushy, remove from heat immediately.
